Fall Community Herbalism Immersion: A 4 Part Series

140.00

This four part series is designed to connect you with plants as allies and empower you to start using them for healing in your own body, your family, and your community. Each workshop pairs the exploration of herbal allies for a particular system(s) in the body with a different form of herbal medicine making. By the end of the series, you will have made a tea blend, tincture, herbal syrup, and herbal vinegar to jumpstart or expand your home apothecary.

Dates & Location: Wednesdays, Oct. 16th-Nov. 6th, 6:30-8pm @ Gay Street Yoga (317 N. Gay St)

Cost: $40/class or $140 for the whole series

Part 1-Herbal Tonics & Tea Blending (Oct. 16th)

This first workshop will serve as an introduction to plant medicine and community herbalism. We’ll explore herbs as allies, learn about dosage and forms of use, and focus on several herbal tonics or “food” herbs that can both nourish and cleanse our bodies. We will also learn how to blend and brew herbal teas and everyone will get to make their own custom tea blend to take home!

Part 2-Herbs for Stress/Trauma & Tincture Making (Oct. 23rd)

In this second workshop, we will explore stress as a root cause of illness and learn how it affects our immune, nervous, and endocrine systems. This workshop will focus on adaptogens, one of our most important families of plant allies for healing trauma, cultivating resilience against stress, and bringing balance back to our bodies.  We will also learn how to make herbal extracts or tinctures and everyone will get to make their own adaptogen tincture to add to their home apothecary.

Part 3-Immune Support & Elderberry Syrup (Oct. 30th)

In this third workshop, we will focus on the immune system and learn about herbs that can be used to prevent illness and fight off infections. We will explore a variety of forms for ingesting these herbs, including herbal honeys and syrups. As part of this workshop, everyone will get to make and take home their own jar of Elderberry Syrup, an incredible ally against colds and flues.

Part 4-Respiratory Support & Fire Cider (Nov. 6th)

In this final workshop, we will focus on herbs for supporting the respiratory system, many of which you can find in your own kitchen. As part of this workshop, we will learn how to make herbal vinegars and everyone will get to make their own jar of Fire Cider, a fabulous decongesting and expectorating remedy for fall and winter.
